Well, by most cancer standards... pardon the language here....  I don't have shit to complain about.  And I really don't.  That's why I've decided to actually pick back up my melanoma blog in hopes that some find it useful... helpful...  or just a bit humourus.

Well six months ago, I had a life altering event.  I was diagnosed with Melanoma.  LUCKILY.... and I keep that in mind at all times... I am very lucky.  Luckily, it was only a Stage 1 Melanoma.  I think... espescially with how long I just looked at the blotch on my arm,  things could have gone much worse.  I had an excision, staph infection, and lots of anti-biotics, but everything came back clear with my excision pathology.  No more cancer there.  I still go in for a full screening every three months, but so far nothing has shown up.

So, for the big reveal.  My Six Month Anniversary Picture.  It's not much to look at... just some scaring.  But hey, I think I'm entitled to a little melodrama :D

Hi,
thank you for posting this picture of your scare. I recently had melanoma on my left arm in the same area as you only my excision is vertical and I was in the zero stage....very, very lucky. I just wanted to see how the excision looks once it has healed. It seems to be taking a long time to heal....however, it has only been slightly over a month since I had it done. Mine looks bad too cause I am allergic to the adhesive in the bandages. The doctor wants me to keep surgical strips on for a while to let it heal better. I just hope mine will look as good as yours in six months...cause I can hardly see yours in the picture. Mine also has a dip in it and that looks really bad to me! But I can't complain, I'm alive and healthy!!
Thanks again for posting the picture.

Hi,

Just read your blog. I was also recently diagnosed with Stage 1A. Like you I looked at that mole for a good while trying to decide if it was normal or not before finally going in. Now I'm obsessed with looking at my moles and of course if y ou stare long enough they all start looking evil!! Drop by my new blog if you are interested...

Hi,
7 days ago I was diagnosed with a 7mm melanoma on my back. I was the same as you, except it got hard about 6 mos. ago and I got the biopsy (punch biopsy) last wk. No symptoms, just this mole hardened over on my back.
Man, I go from ready to die (calm) to "I'm freaking out." and alone inside. I'm a fighter, emotionally very strong, and a positive person, but I just don't know how to feel. Working with my patients is helpful; gets me out of myself. The HMO dermatologist I went to (generic referral) said that the report showed no cells floating to the lymph nodes but that was only preliminary. He was TOO NICE for a doc...calling me back and taking the call every time. I've got a daughter & she's my only real concern. I go to the Emory Center next week. Could you please email me? I'm really lost. thx. evan
